The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association
are saddened to report that
Retired JFRD Lieutenant James (Jim) T. White (91) passed away on
Friday,
February 23, 2024.
James T. "Jim" White passed away peacefully on February 23,
2024, after a brief illness. Jim was born in Jacksonville on September 18th,
1932.
He was a veteran of the USMC. Jim met his wife Jackie Babb in
1953 at the Lackawanna Park swimming pool. He was hired by the Jacksonville
Fire Rescue Department in 1956 and retired as a Lieutenant in 1978. Jim also
had a successful business career as a building contractor.
Jim loved family gatherings, fishing, working in his wood
shop, and spending time with his fellow retirees from JFRD.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years
Jackie, granddaughter Ambra Kelly, great grandson Evin Trey Roberts, parents
Charles & Mary E. (Leader) White, brother Charles A. White, sisters Mary Lou
Jones, Marjorie Stoudenmire and Gloria Thom.
He is survived by sons Rusty (Gretchen) White, Tom (Nicki)
White, daughters Susie (Jimmy) Kelly, Melissa Martin, grandchildren Miles (Shayna)
Martin, Christine Martin, Sara Kelly, Lee White, Calvin White and Cassie
(Garrett) Nance, great grandchildren Ava Roberts and Jasmine Martin.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday February.
29th at 1:30pm in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home 8168
Normandy Blvd. with Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
A reception and remembrance at the Firefighters Local 122
Union Hall, 618 Stockton St. will immediately follow the services.
