The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that

Retired JFRD Captain Richard E. (Gene) Smith passed away Wednesday November 10, 2021.

Captain Smith was hired on 11/22/1969 and rode E17. He moved to 23 where he rode tailboard until promoting to Lt. In 1985 he was a Lieutenant on Engine Nineteen. He retired in 2004 from Engine 12.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday November 19th at:

Jacksonville Firefighter's Hall
618 Stockton St.
Jacksonville, FL 32204

A reception will follow at the same location.
