JFRD Retired Captain Archie Cecil Smith (E40) passed away January 11, 2013.

He was the father of retired Chief Richard Barrett Sr. ,grandfather of Engineer Richard Barrett Jr.(E7C), and Firefighter Eric Barrett (E32A).

Funeral arrangements for retired fire Captain Archie Cecil Smith E40 is as follows:
Viewing / visitation was Monday January 14, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fraser Funeral Home 8168 Normandy Blvd.
Graveside service only - 11:00 AM Tuesday January 15, 2013 at the Gravely Hill section of  Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery 7242 Normandy Blvd.

SMITH Archie Cecil Smith age 88, passed away, Friday, January 11, 2013. Mr. Smith was a native of Baldwin, FL and was a Navy Veteran of WWII and he retired after over 40 years of service with the Jacksonville Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents Archie B. and Ollie Smith, his wife, Peggy Smith, a son, Richard Wayne Smith, two brothers, Leroy and Lloyd Smith, and a grandson, Justin Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Cothron (Joe B.), Sandra Tomlinson (Rick), a step-daughter, Linda Elian, step-sons, Richard Barrett (Debbie), Randall Barrett (Belinda) a brother, David Smith, and four sisters, Betty Smith, Marjorie Starling, Jewel Shepard, Nora Thompson, 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family received friends at FRASER FUNERAL HOME, 8168 Normandy Blvd. (781-4314) from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday January 14, 2013. Graveside services were held, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00am in Gravely Hill section of  Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery 7242 Normandy Blvd. with US Navy Honors and Rev. Donald Thompson officiating.
