Captain Johnnie "Maxie" Sirmans
Retired Captain Johnnie "Maxie" Sirmans, 71, passed peacefully on June 19th in Jacksonville, FL. He was a life-long resident of Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1956. He was a member of the National Guard, the Florida Boppers Inc., and a Licensed State Contractor. He had a fulfilling career as a Firefighter for the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Dept. for over 35 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, dancing, and most of all spending time with his loving family. He served our community for many years and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Maxie leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 35 years, Karen R. Sirmans; daughter, Pam Perry; son, Captain Brad (Eileen) Sirmans; daughter, Holly (Craig) Kobrin; sister, Karen (Bill) Just; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Family accepted friends on Sunday, June 21st from 3-5 p.m. and services followed on Monday, June 22nd at 10 a.m. at HARDAGE-GIDDENS MANDARIN CHAPEL, 11801 San Jose Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice of N.E.
