The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that

Retired JFRD Lieutenant S. R. "Sam" Pratt passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Lieutenant Pratt was 88 years of age and residing in Hendersonville, North Carolina, at the time of his passing. Pratt began his JFD career in May of 1962 as a Private on Ladder four. Shortly after consolidation, he was sent to the former county fire station 31 as an Engineer for several years. He also worked at the training academy on Stockton Street in the 70's. His last assignment before retirement was Lieutenant on Marine 1.
