Viewing was 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday February 24, 2013 at the Fraser Funeral Home 8168 Normandy Blvd.
Funeral was 11:00 AM Monday February 25 at the Fraser Funeral Home 8168 Normandy Blvd.
Retired JFRD Chaplain Rev Wayne Young was officiating.
Interment is at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens 111 Blanding Blvd orange Park, FL.
The family met with friends at the fellowship hall at Calvary Methodist Church directly across the street from Jacksonville Memory Gardens on Blanding Blvd. following the graveside service.
MIKELL
Wayne Mikell, 67, of Jacksonville, went home to be with the Lord on February 19,
2013. He was born on July 8, 1945 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville. He
retired in 2002 as a Lieutenant with Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department. He
served most of his 34 years with the Fire Department in the Rescue Division,
transferring to Air 5 for his final years. He was a member of Wesconnett Masonic
Lodge No. 297 and the Firefighter's Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his
Parents, George Franklin Mikell and Loretta Charles Mikell, his Brother David
Wesley Mikell and his Father-in-law, Jack McCall. He is survived by his loving
Wife of 36 years, Debra Cler McCall Mikell, Daughters; Amanda Knox (Michael),
Renee Mikell (Jonny), Sons; Wesley Mikell (Missy), Wayne Mikell, Jr.,
Grandchildren; Emily, Miles and Sophie Knox, Brandi and Gaige Mikell, Rykar and
Oskar Mikell. Brother; William Mikell, Sisters; Elna Mikell and Edna Highsmith
(Perry). Mother-in-law; Barbara McCall, Sisters-in-law; Cindy Mitchell
(Michael), Donna McCall, Brother-in-law; David McCall (Sharon) and numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He loved doing crafts with and singing to
his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys of life was cooking great meals for
his family and friends. In past years, he loved fishing, playing his guitar and
keyboard. His wife and family wish to express their gratitude to JFRD, the
Emergency Room Staff, all of his physicians, and to the staff of 3100 at St.
Vincent Medical Center for providing him with two weeks of supportive and
professional care. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, 2013
from 5-8pm at FRASER FUNERAL HOME 8168 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL. 32221
