The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that
Retired JFRD District Chief Robert E. (Cheezy) Garmon passed away Friday July 01, 2022.
He was hired 11/22/1969 and was Engineer by 1973. He was Lieutenant at station 28 in 1985. Captain by 1995 and District Chief by 2005.
Chief Cheezy retired from JFRD in 2005 but continued to work as a fire instructor at The Fire Academy Of The South.
He was known as a fireman's fireman throughout his career and had respect and admiration of all firefighters. He was quite the accomplished builder of the most realistic looking firehouse steel wool rats.
Funeral arrangements for retired District Chief R.E. "Bobby"
Garmon have been released.
A viewing is scheduled from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at his
home church.
Madison Street Baptist Church
900 West Madison Street
Starke, Florida, 32091.
The funeral service is scheduled for the following day, at 11:00 a.m
Saturday, July 9, 2022
also at the Madison Street Baptist Church in Starke, Florida.
Following the funeral service interment will take place at the Greenlawn
Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida, 32207.
