Engineer James 'Jim' Edward Dimsdale, 81, of St.
Augustine, FL died at Grafton House on January 29, 2011, of complications due to
Parkinson's disease. He was born in Porterdale, GA on December 8, l929. He
served in the US Army from 12/1950 -October 1952 and was in the Korean War. He
joined the City of Jacksonville Fire Department in 1956 and retired after 17
years of service. His last assignment was on Marine boat #3 During this time he
was also involved in the real estate industry. After his retirement he moved to
St. Augustine in l975 and continued in the Real Estate Industry and was one of
the original founders of Prosperity Bank in St. Augustine. A talented musician,
Jim performed for many events in both the Jacksonville and St Augustine area. He
had an amazing voice and was talented on guitar entertaining with gospel music
as well as country and western. Jim is survived by his loving family and a many
friends in the community. The family received friends at Craig Funeral Home
and Crematory Memorial Park, 1475 Old Dixie Hwy., St. Augustine, FL. on
Wednesday, February 2, from 5pm-8pm and funeral services were held there at
12 noon on Thursday, February 3. Interment took place at 2:30pm at
Evergreen Cemetery, Gate # 1 4535 N. Main Street, Jacksonville FL 32206. Flowers
were gratefully accepted or you may make donations to Grafton House, LLC P.O. Box
3444, St. Augustine, FL 32085-3444.
