The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that

Retired JFRD Captain Bobby J. Claxton passed away Friday October 09, 2020.

On Friday, October 9, 2020. Captain Claxton was in a vehicle crash and died while being transported to an area hospital.
His wife is hospitalized with serious injuries.

Captain Claxton was hired August 22, 1960 and retired as the Captain of Fire Station 43 after spending a number of years at Fire Station 24.

Captain Claxton had been named the Fireman of the Year by the Fraternal Order of Fireman in 1968, for his rescue of a 5-year-old boy from a burning house when he was assigned to Ladder 4.
