are saddened to report that
Retired JFRD Lieutenant Charles Carter passed away Tuesday October 30, 2018.
Charles Carthell Carter, 80, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his
home. Mr. Carter was born in Pierce County, Georgia and was the son of the late
Carthell Carter and Julia Henderson Carter. He owned and operated numerous
businesses through the years and retired from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue
Department. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing and Florida State Football. Mr. Carter was
a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Gardenview Baptist Church and most
recently of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by
his wife of 57 years: Barbara Carter and is survived by 2 children: Charles
Randall Carter (Melissa) and Terri Lee Carter (Lisa); 2 grandchildren: Seth &
Kendra Carter; 2 sisters: Nancy
Collins (Philip) and Pam Eckols (Rodney); brother: Mark Carter (Christina);
nephew & caregiver: David Edwards (Mickie) and numerous nieces, nephews,
extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
