The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that

Retired JFRD Engineer Benjamin H. Buchanan passed away 9/28/2024.

At the time of his death Engineer Buchanan was in a rehab/nursing facility attempting to recover from injuries suffered in a fall a few weeks ago.
Engineer Buchanan retired from Ladder 30 in March of 1993. His 32-year career had began in March of 1961 when he was assigned to Engine 10. He also served at Ladder 20, which later moved to Station 28 and still later moved to Station 30.
Engineer Buchanan also is the father of retired Engine 59 Captain Todd Buchanan. Funeral arrangements have yet to be released and when known will be posted on this page. It is known that he will be interred at the Jacksonville National Cemetery as he was a veteran of the United States Navy. Until then please join us in keeping Engineer Buchanan's family and close friends in your prayers and thoughts as they deal with this earthly loss.
