Donald Howard Adams Sr., age 82, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born November 18, 1931 in Douglas, Georgia to John and Nancy (Connors) Adams. Don retired as a Captain after 26 years of service with the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department. He was one of the first paramedics with the department. He was also a member of the Normandy Park Baptist Church. After retiring Don love to spend his time outdoors and could be found on the golf course or out on the water fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Norman, T.L., Thurston, and one sister Helen Davis. Don will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 49 years Nora Evelyn Adams; two sons Howard Adams Jr. (Ursula) and Michael Adams(Karen); two daughters Sylvia Stone (Clifford) and Donna McKinnon (Wayne); four brothers Woodrow, Wendell, Kenny, and Randy; three sisters Cleo Chaney , Frances Woods, and Wanda Stone; six grandchildren Jaime, Jeffrey, Clifton, Christopher, Daniel, and Timothy; seven great grandchildren Kameron, Kaitlyn, Kaycee, Shelby Lynn, Cole, Chandler, and Caleb. Family received friends and family 10:00 – 11:00 am Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Normandy Park Baptist Church, 7050 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Troy Dixon officiating. Interment followed the services at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made in Donald's honor to the Mission Fund at Normandy Park Baptist Church.
