Probationary Firefighter Examination

Guide

The knowledge and skills listed in the Probationary Firefighters Examination Guide have been identified by the department as the minimum needed to achieve a permanent status and serve as a Firefighter for the JFRD.

Probationary Firefighters are encouraged to exceed the minimum requirements listed and excel to the maximum limit of their capabilities.

Officers are required to provide constant training and positive reinforcement throughout the probationary period to ensure that the Probationary Firefighter has sufficient opportunity to meet and exceed the probationary requirements.

Probationary Firefighters will be required to become thoroughly familiar with the following information after being permanently assigned to their stations.

The skills listed in the Probationary Firefighter Task Book will be witnessed and signed off (in the task book itself) by the probationary firefighter’s company officer.

The SAPs, SOGs, and SOPs listed under Target Solutions Lessons will be completed by probationary firefighters as Target solutions assignments.
